Hi to anyone who actually reads this!

I was just wondering if anyone could help me get in contact with an archaeology group in Scotland, preferably one aimed at young people. I hope to study the subject at university next year, and so would like some experience. I've wanted to study archaeology for a few years now, I find the subject really interesting and its different from any other course (in the fact that I don't think i'd get bored). I like the fact that you are studying for a specific job as well and also how it combines art and science.

Sorry if this isn't a very long post, but i've been ill this past week. It seems I catch the cold very easily!

I'm back at school now.... It's rubbish already. I'm a prefect, so I have to show first years around and tell them what to do (well, kind of).

On another topic, I just finished reading a great book, called Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. After watching the film, I decided to treat myself to the book, and it turns out that the book is even better than the film. I guess that the book could be a bit confusing though, if you hadn't watched the film beforehand. My favourite character was Sayuri (the lead girl) of course, but I thought that the character of Hatsumomo perhaps was more powerful in some parts of the book. It has a happy ending, which is good as nowadays most books have sad endings, as the author seems to think that a sad ending has more effect. Its the kind of book that leaves you feeling very content and you know that when you've finished it that you've just read a very good book. It is strange to think that it was written by a man!

Yay - tomorrow I am off to York for a week! I have already been there twice but I love the city! I also love the weather in England, and despite the bleak weather forcast, it has to be better than the seemingly continuous rain here in Scotland. I am going on holiday with my parents (*yawn*) but at least I get to spend some 'quality' time with them. My sister is also meeting up with her boyfriend, so I will probably feel like piggy-in-the-middle again. I best be off, I still have quite a lot of packing to do!

Hey, I am just posting this to tell people about a great place to go hill climbing in Scotland, called Glencoe. It's quite a difficult hike, as you have to cross a river and occasionally the path is really steep and has loose rocks. I managed to fall into the river, so be sure to have spare clothes in the car!

I'm not quite sure how to start this, I'm new to this whole blogging business. Perhaps they should introduce a whole new subject at school on blogging, that would be a little bit more useful than some other subjects I could name. I don't need to be taught how to sew by hand when there is a brand new sewing machine sitting on my desk. I especially don't need to be taught how to play the glockenspiel when I've been playing the violin for the past six, seven years. I've just about finished sitting my Higher exams, I've only got one more to sit - German. School life doesn't suit me much. I don't understand why up until I was in third year I had to be in a class with people who just wanted to ping pencils across the room and swear at the teacher until she cried (sorry to all those who think that inclusion is a wonderful thing, but you don't have to experience it first hand). A close memeber of my family works at a school, and she is driven crazy by the fact that none of the children, even five-year-olds, can't seem to master the art of manners. Do they not sit at a table together with their parents to eat? Sorry, this has digressed into a rant about school!
